What’s New In Natural Hair Care? CurlyChic Haircare

When I’m not twisting my hair, I’m wearing my curls. So, I can’t help but look for natural hair care products that I can add to my regimen. I think I found a winner! Recently, I caught wind of the new campaign spearheaded by CurlyChic Haircare and it is, of course, utterly chic. It features Black women proudly sporting their big curls. Their hair pops, their clothes are unique to them, and they seem like gifted urban women.

The natural hair care line began in 2014, it is a black-owned and family operated business based in Los Angeles. On their website, curlychichaircare.com, there is a lovely behind-the-scenes video of the models and the photoshoot. The photos were taken by Creative Soul Photography, a company based in Atlanta. I felt like I could see my friends and other young women like me in this campaign with the models of varying ages, shades, and hair textures – all rocking afros!

“For decades, beauty and fashion campaigns have been synonymous with promoting long, sleek, and chemically-processed straight hair – CurlyChic hair can be all curl types and textures. We are excited to unveil our new campaign with a focus on lush, natural, beautiful curls,” said Sandy Williams, the Social Engagement Director for CurlyChic Haircare and CurlyKids. Personally, I love seeing how CurlyChic is celebrating hair like mine and it is great to know that it’s a conscious effort on their part.

CurlyChic Haircare is all about curl diversity, providing products specifically for mixed textured hair. As they put it, “whether your hair is curly-kinky, curly-coily, curly-wavy, curly-frizzy or a combination, we have the perfect recipe for your unique conditioning, moisturizing and detangling needs.”  I may be in the curly-coily and curly-wavy category, so I am definitely excited to try it soon!

I know CurlyKids products work well, having used it on my own cousin’s hair, so I can’t wait to get my hands on CurlyChic. The line is very affordable with prices at $7 and under. You can find them in-store at Sally Beauty Supply and Walmart. Their Coconut For Curls, coconut oil which enhances shine, and Moisture in a Minute, a leave-in conditioner, are two items already sold out on their website curlychichaircare.com
